Lake Louisa State Park

I am surprised it took me so long to visit this state park, especially since it is only about 40 minutes away. While this park is located not far from the bustling city of Orlando, its hills, lakes, and forest make you feel far away in Neverland.

This state park offers several hiking and biking trails, you can paddle any of their three lakes, and fishing is permitted at some places. There is the option to camp or even glamp!

When I had gone there, I planned to bike and get a lay of the land. I biked the paved route from the park entrance to Lake Louisa then over to Dixie Lake.

Most of the paved way has a bike lane

This park is a bit hilly in places. Some points needed extra effort on my beach cruiser bike, but nothing too intense.

The view of biking down the hill and seeing forests and lakes was absolutely stunning.

There will be a sign guiding you to which lake you want to visit. I chose to visit the star of the park, Lake Louisa, first.

You will see this sign at the split

I biked lap around the parking lot and didn't notice a bike rack. I was a bit disappointed by that and decided to lock my bike up to the fence. I couldn't believe the white powdered sandy beach I saw when I got to the end of the boardwalk.

At this lake, there are plenty of picnic tables and grills. A swim area is marked out if you want to take a dip. There is a jungle gym and restrooms.

This was on one of the building walls. It talks about this lake chain and its history.

I took some time to walk on some of the small paths following the curve of the lake.

I plan to come back in the summer and paddle this lake. But for the time being, I popped back onto my bike and headed to the other side of the park to Dixie Lake.

You will see a parking lot and a boardwalk on the near side of Dixie Lake. Here is where I saw people fishing.

After this stop, there isn't a clear bike lane, so be cautious and keep to the side.

I biked past the equestrian stables. They offer horseback riding tours through the park.

At the end of the road is the campground. It is located right between Dixie Lake and Hammond Lake. There are boardwalks out onto both lakes. Dixie Lake's boardwalk had stairs into the water if you wanted to drop in at watercraft. I noticed a canteen available for campers and showers/bathrooms.

The bike loop from start, around each lake, to finish was about 12 miles. Again, this was on the paved trails. There are other "off-road trails" you can bike.

These posts let you know info about each trail.

I can't wait to return to this park again and explore all that she has to offer!
